Emmy 2009 Rundown: The Fabulous Fashion

I love award shows. I watch almost all of them and I'm not afraid to admit it. I love the red carpet pre-shows, the constant questions about "who are you wearing?", the cheesy acceptance speeches, and especially watching some of my favorite shows and movies get the credit they deserve (YAY Mad Men!). Or boo-ing really loudly when they lose and other shows sweep awards year after year... *cough* 30 Rock *cough* (I have nothing against 30 Rock, I just don't watch it)

The best part, for me at least, is the fashion. I always wonder how some people manage to look so fabulous while others have me concerned for their mental states. I mean... How some of these people look in the mirror and decide they look red-carpet-ready is truly beyond me.

Let's start with my favorites for the evening (in no particular order):

January Jones in Versace

Okay, it's a teensy little bit Jane Jetson, but I think she looks gorgeous anyway.

Girl really needs a sandwich (or twelve) but I won't hold that against her. She looks absolutely stunning and the dress gives her hundred-pound figure tons of curves - bravo!

Cat can do no wrong for me. I love just about everything she wears on So You Think You Can Dance and this is another home run.

Do you see a trend here? Drapey, light, and flowy? Yeah. Apparently I have a type. Anyway, I love this dress by the Project Runway winner. I think the color is great and her hair is cute and youthful. I'm a fan.

Purple was a popular color last night and I think Lindsay's was one of the best. As you can see, her dress fits in with my favorite trend of the night. Goddess-like indeed.

Absolutely love it. She looks like a little gold statue herself.

Wow. Feminine ruffles and tons of layers and a gorgeous color... Awesome. I'm impressed.

I wasn't sure I liked this when I first saw it... I wasn't even sure I understood it. But you know what? If I had a body like that? I might try to wear as little fabric as possible. Although, she certainly makes up for the lack of fabric up top with the dozens of layers at the bottom. I really like it, though. It's girly and frilly and different from anything else we saw last night. I like that she took a chance.
