Sex and the Seriously Lame: Part II

Oh.Em.Gee! Guess what, everyone! I have THE BEST news for you!

Remember that atrocious poster for the new Sex and the City 2 movie? Where Carrie was wearing an awful white dress from Forever 21?

Well, as it turns out, it's not from Forever 21! In fact, it's from the all new "affordable" line from Halston, dubbed Halston Heritage.

Color. Me. Abso-freakin-lutely. Thrilled.

I'm sorry, it STILL looks like it's from Forever 21. What's with that weird slit in the front? And the flannel-shirt style curved hems on the sides? Ridiculous.

It's officially called the "V-Neck Jersey" dress and it retails for an "affordable" $325.

How much? For THAT? Someone has lost their mind. Oh my god. Just go to Forever 21 and you'll probably find an exact duplicate for about $30.

Let's talk about the rest of the outfit for a moment, shall we?

On top of the trashtastic dress, she's got on:

That necklace is by Solange Azagury-Patridge. It can be yours for the super-steal price of $198,200. Chump change, right?

Here's a closeup:

Almost $200K for that? Maybe it's just a really bad picture, but it looks a little bit like...a Leggo necklace that a preschooler might make. Maybe I just don't get it.

Next up, Christian Louboutin Pigalle Gold Crystal pumps - I can't seem to find an official price anywhere, but if eBay can be believed at all, it seems they retail for about $3,100.

They're cute and all... But $3,100? They'd better take me out to a fancy dinner, spring for the vintage Cristal, and bring me a gift - preferably one that sparkles and comes in a little blue box tied with a white bow.

Let's not forget her fabulous gold clutch from Chanel. I'm not sure of the price, but I doubt it's any less than $2,000.

The fun isn't over yet, though. It gets even better! Halston Heritage is responsible for another one of Carrie's outfits in the film, though at least this one isn't nearly as bad.

This is the Metallic-Stripe Dress and if I'm being honest, I don't hate it. I think it's kinda fun, actually. I like the way it flows and it looks like it could be very forgiving for those without Sarah Jessica Parker's size nothing figure. It's definitely a great color, too.

Still not sure it's worth the $435 price tag, though. And I like it better when it's styled with that white belt like Carrie has on.

And just for kicks, here's the rest of Carrie's outfit:

Jee Vice - Heated orange sunglasses - $170 (Eh...I'm not impressed. And I hate the color.)
Christian Louboutin (shocker!) Gino T-Strap heels - $865 (I love these!)
Christian Louboutin - Large Sylvia Hobo in pink - $1,795 (This bag is way too big, even for me!)

So there you have it. The mystery is solved. No more fretting that our beloved Carrie has suddenly started shopping at all those normal stores like the rest of us. Rest assured that she's still living the high life with Big.

All is well in Sex and the City Land.

Is it just me, or is Carrie not aging too well? Sarah Jessica Parker needs some meat on her bones!

Yeah... She's looking a little worse for the wear!

i LOVE sex and the city and Carrie as a fashion role model
clearly you know NOTHING about fashion
the fact that you compare a top end designer to forever 21 proves that
just because you cant aford to shop high fashion and only at cheap clothing store clearance bins doesnt give you the right to critique it

Dearest ANONYMOUS - I Love Sex and the City. I've seen every episode, the movie, and plan to see the new movie as well. Just because I don't think the promotional shots I've seen are well styled doesn't mean I know nothing about fashion. The Halston Heritage dress DOES look like the dresses found at Forever 21, no two ways around it.

Also, comparing a top end designer (which, just FYI, Halston Heritage is NOT, it's just a diffusion brand) to a low end store isn't actually a crime, at least last time I checked.

I'm pretty sure I have the right to critique anything I want. And, frankly, you know nothing about me so how would you even know if I can afford high end designers?

That would be kind of like me assuming that you are a COWARDLY MORON for posting an anonymous comment with no grammar whatsoever.

When you'd like to come speak to me like a grownup you let me know.

your right
i dont know you
nor do i care to
and honestly you want to say you know about fashion and love sex and the city? then try "blogging" a nicer and more accurate depiction of the new movie
and if you could afford high fashion or even nice clothing at all you wouldnt bitch about the prices on your blog

and honestly your so called review doent make you look like a grown up either

you love it??
YOUR headline was "sex and the seriously lame: part II"

How exactly does my review make me not look like a grownup? Did I use words that were too big for you? Too many commas, maybe?

If you'd actually learned to read at some point in your life you'd know that the title of the post was in reference to a previous post, in which I referred to the promotional POSTER as lame, not the movie or the show.

Considering this is MY blog, I don't have to say anything nice about anything if I don't want to. And, who are you protecting from me? The show creators? The actors? Give me a break and get off your high horse.

You don't like my opinions? Don't read them. Stop trying to "prove" that I can't afford high end or even nice clothes. Get over it.

ughh dont worry
i have never read your blog and never will
you seem just as icky as the words you write
i came across this while i was reading about the new movie and looking at the new fashions from it
i was so disgusted by your lame attempt to bash sex and the city i felt compelled to say something

Agree with the person commenting on this blog.

You seem to be a very negative person. If you "love" the show and movie so much, why is the first thought in your head so negative?

And by the way, the whole point of the fashion and styling statements in these SATC movies is to spark interest, be creative, innovative and out of the box.

Whether you like it or not, you're certainly generating controversy and interest in the movie, so I'm not complaining. You just seem very sad and negative, and on top of that I'd never let a few cheap words against SATC go without a rebuttal. It's just instinct for me, I guess!
